The German Embassy buildings in Kathmandu were constructed in the late 1980s based on designs by the Federal Office for Building and Regional Planning. Following seismic retrofitting in the 2010s, the buildings have now undergone comprehensive refurbishment: escape routes in the chancery building were redesigned, roof surfaces and windows were replaced, and sanitary facilities in both the residence and the chancery were modernized. The project focused on cost-effective renovation and was executed by a local general contractor in collaboration with German specialist firms. The primary challenge lay in maintaining constant on-site supervision while the work was carried out during ongoing embassy operations.
